Teach & Learn with WiscNet: Microsoft Defender - Mastering the Basics

Join us on Wednesday, October 15th to unlock the power of Microsoft Defender

Microsoft Defender - Mastering the Basics

Every organization deserves to feel secure in an evolving digital world. Security isn’t just about tools—it’s about confidence, awareness, and the ability to act decisively. Microsoft Defender is built to empower that confidence.

In this session, Ben Dumke will take you beyond the surface, starting with security basics and building toward a clear understanding of the Defender suite. Along the way, he will explain and demonstrate the functionality of specific Defender features, tying them to strong security recommendations.

Who is Ben Dumke?
Ben is the Network & Systems Manager at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin and currently serves on the WiscNet Board of Directors.

He leads a team responsible for networking, servers, desktops, and application deployments. Before transitioning to higher education, Ben spent over two decades in school districts where he supported a wide range of Microsoft technologies and IT infrastructure. He has contributed to national K-12 cybersecurity initiatives through his work with K12SIX.org, contributing to their Incident Response Runbook and Essential Cybersecurity Protections.

We’re excited to create a collaborative space where we can learn from one another. Sharing knowledge and resources across our membership makes us all stronger.
