WiscNet Strategic Plan 2023 - 2028
The WiscNet Strategic Plan
WiscNet’s strategic plan is a living guide for strengthening the people, services, communication, and culture that make our member community successful. At its core, this plan is about making sure members have access to the expertise, relationships, and resources they need to navigate complex technology challenges with confidence.
Our first goal is to continue building a strong community of great people. WiscNet members, staff, and partners bring valuable knowledge and experience, and we want to create more opportunities for that expertise to be shared. Through workshops, events, peer groups, regional meetups, and remote participation options, WiscNet will help members learn from one another, exchange best practices, and build relationships that strengthen the network.
We plan to provide technology leadership, expertise, and advocacy. WiscNet will continue to improve core services, strengthen infrastructure, expand cybersecurity resources, and advocate for better connectivity and service reliability. This includes improving NOC services, developing transport options, supporting cybersecurity needs, and helping member dollars go further through shared knowledge, funding opportunities, and collaborative approaches.
We will use our voice to communicate with clarity and purpose. Members should understand what WiscNet does, why it matters, and how our work supports their organizations. We will focus on clearer messaging, stronger member updates, better storytelling, and full-circle communication that keeps members informed during projects, service issues, outages, and resolutions.
Community is our driving investment in WiscNet’s people and organizational culture. Staff are central to WiscNet’s success, and supporting them helps us serve members well. This work includes creating clear mission, vision, and values statements; using the strategic plan to guide priorities; supporting professional development; improving workplace feedback loops; and building a healthy culture where staff can balance daily operations with long-term, innovative work.
Together, these goals describe the kind of organization WiscNet is working to be: member-centered, collaborative, reliable, transparent, and future-focused. This plan gives us a shared path for making progress and a way to measure whether our work is creating meaningful value for the membership.
