Teach & Learn with WiscNet: Expansion of WiscNet’s Firewall Service

Teach & Learn with WiscNet: Expansion of WiscNet's Firewall Service

WiscNet's Co-Managed Firewall Service now includes Palo Alto Networks firewall devices!

In addition to Fortinet, WiscNet is now offering Palo Alto Networks firewall devices that we co-manage alongside your organization. We thought the best way to introduce this new option would be to jump right into a Teach & Learn session on Wednesday, June 17, from 10-11 a.m. to give members an overview of the service and its key benefits.

This service is designed to help strengthen your network security while allowing you to maintain local control of your firewall. Attendees will learn how the co-managed model combines WiscNet’s security expertise with Palo Alto Networks’ single-pass architecture to deliver advanced threat prevention, deep visibility, and operational support without fully outsourcing firewall management. We recognize how valuable your resources are; this model was built with that in mind.

This one-hour Zoom session is ideal for IT leaders and network administrators looking to modernize their firewall strategy, improve security posture, and reduce operational burden.

Topics we'll cover:

  • An introduction to the WiscNet Co-Managed Firewall Service and its key benefits

  • Why WiscNet is expanding the Co-Managed Firewall Service to include Palo Alto firewalls

  • How the shared responsibility model works between WiscNet and member organizations

  • Core security capabilities, including application-aware policy control, threat prevention, and centralized management

  • Real-world use cases for K-12, higher education, and public sector organizations

  • What onboarding and ongoing support look like for participating members

  • Questions from attendees

In this session, you’ll hear from:

Headshots of Jason Downey, Margarita Dobrynina and Heidi Genthner all of WiscNet

WiscNet's Chief Information Security Officer Jason Downey, Secure Platform Consultant Margarita Dobrynina, and Member Success and Cybersecurity Services Coordinator Heidi Genthner will lead the session. WiscNet's Secure Platform team also includes Associate Security Consultant Kozzi Ezou and Secure Platform Consultant Joshua Honesto. This team focuses on strengthening and applying strategy to members' cybersecurity operations.

Join us from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, to learn more about this newly added co-managed firewall service.
