High Throughput Computing (HTC) Week 2026

Throughput Computing Week 2026, known as HTC26, is the fourth annual gathering of the High Throughput Computing community, scheduled for June 9–12, 2026, at the Fluno Center on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, with a virtual attendance option via Zoom. The event is jointly hosted by the OSG Consortium, the HTCondor team, and the UW-Madison Center for High Throughput Computing (CHTC). A notable aspect of this year's gathering is the introduction of Peter Couvares, the new OSG Executive Director, who brings a fresh perspective on how physics communities engage with throughput computing, beginning with Multi Messenger Astrophysics. The 2026 edition runs four days starting on a Tuesday, a slight shift from previous years.

The week is designed to bring together users, contributors, and collaborators of major throughput computing platforms, including OSPool, the Open Science Data Federation (OSDF), HTCondor, and Pelican. Attendees can expect a mix of presentations, discussions, and live demonstrations covering the latest services, research developments, and field experiences. Both current and prospective consumers or providers of distributed high throughput computing are encouraged to attend, alongside HTCondor, OSDF, and Pelican users or administrators.

This year's program emphasizes several focal topics. Artificial intelligence features prominently, with sessions exploring the challenges of AI, including both successes and failures in agentic AI, AI facilitation, best practices for AI-driven research, and the use of AI tools to understand and debug HTCondor and Pelican. Other featured themes include facilitation for HTC, the computing challenges of Multi Messenger Astrophysics, HTC Admin Jumpstart and Masterclass sessions, the challenges of data, and "Throughput Computing at Work" reports from the field.

Building on the success of recent years, HTC26 will again feature dedicated breakout sessions on Wednesday, June 10 for campus contributors to OSDF and OSPool, including past, present, and prospective CC* awardees. These sessions are designed to connect campus HTC staff directly with OSG Consortium staff, fostering mutual learning aimed at improving capacity provision and utilization for scientific research at both the campus and national levels.

The event organizers actively encourage community members to submit talks, with technical presentations typically running about 20 minutes in length. Speakers can apply by submitting a brief abstract through the event agenda site.

Registration is now open and required for both in-person and remote attendees. In-person attendance costs $130 per day, while virtual attendance is free. Reserved hotel room blocks are available at attractive rates, though organizers warn that these can fill quickly and typically expire about 30 days before the event, so early booking is encouraged. Madison is described as a particularly popular summer destination, adding to the appeal of attending in person.

Registration, the full agenda, and additional details are available at the official event website: https://agenda.hep.wisc.edu/event/2432/. The event is supported by the National Science Foundation under Grant Nos. 2030508 and 1836650.
