WiscNet Connect +1 and Connect K12 +1 Service allows WiscNet member organizations to utilize multiple connections from your site to the WiscNet backbone. Whether to increase reliability or simply to add capacity, Connect +1 provides support for the increasingly critical network access members need.
WiscNet's Custom Private Network Service reserves a portion of your bandwidth -- an amount you specify, up to 25% -- that enables you to connect directly with an endpoint of your choice. Maybe this allows you to increase your class options, send information over a private network from one point to another, deliver a continuously reliable service to those your constituents, or keep going with the magic you're already got. WiscNet's Custom Private Network Service can help you plan for the future, and then bring you there.
The same WiscNet staff you have grown to trust over the past 25+ years will continue to support WiscNet on BadgerNet, including WiscNet-provided equipment at your location, phone support, and coordinated assistance on service conversions from the old BadgerNet Converged Network to the new BadgerNet network.
We want our members to use and grow into their full capacity at no additional WiscNet cost, therefore, for an annual fixed fee, WiscNet provides unlimited Internet transit. WiscNet does not measure Internet usage, nor do we set limits or cap the amount of data our member organizations use. WiscNet maintains an extremely high-speed, scalable and robust backbone that provides redundant core routing. When member organizations increase Internet transport capacity, the annual WiscNet Network Access Service fee will not increase.
WiscNet partners with various member organizations in sharing data center space to offer co-location and develop additional opportunities for all WiscNet members. Use cases include disaster recovery, cloud services, shared hardware and/or applications, or others we haven't thought of yet. Maintaining a quality data center space for critical servers and services can get very expensive in terms of local resources. WiscNet offers its members access to secure data centers so you can shift responsibilities off site.
WiscNet's BGP Multihome Service is available to any WiscNet member who wants a dual or redundant connection via multiple ISPs. The Border Gateway Protocol ("BGP") Multihome Service provides the Member with an option to add and maintain a secondary Network Access Service provider on WiscNet's device. The Member connects to the WiscNet network via a standards based network router or comparable device ("WiscNet Edge Device") at one physical location.
WIscNet connects Wisconsin to this nationwide initiative where organizations from K12 school districts through R1 research universities can help shape and develop Internet2, the next generation Internet. Internet2 works with other state-wide Research and Education (R&E) networks which together collaborate seamlessly with R&E's to serve their communities with telemedicine, distance learning, and other life-changing applications.
