WiscNet Advisories to the Membership 2019-20

  • Radisson Madison 517 Grand Canyon Drive Madison, WI, 53719 United States (map)

WiscNet Advisories to the Membership allow people from the WiscNet community who are passionate about a variety of topics to teach and learn with others who have the same interests, ideas, and questions. These groups meet several times a year to dive deep into their topics and work together to acquire knowledge, gain greater clarity around identified issues and challenges, and problem solve through collaboration and camaraderie. Participation in WiscNet Advisories to the Membership is free for all WiscNet member organizations.

The groups this year are as follows:

Advanced Networking and Security
Facilitated by Ben Chase, WiscNet

Community Area Networks
Facilitated by Jill Hietpas, WiscNet

Next Generation Leadership
Facilitated by John Pederson and Kameliya Dyakova, WiscNet

*When registering, include which group you are signing up for in the area for thoughts and questions -- you are limited to one group.

The first meeting will be November 6-7, 2019 at the Radisson Hotel Madison at 517 Grand Canyon Dr, Madison, WI 53719.

9:00am-3:30pm on November 6 (Breakfast will be served at 8:30am)
9:00am-2:00pm on November 7 (Breakfast will be served at 8:30am)

David Jakes of David Jakes Designs will facilitate all three Advisory groups together on Wednesday, November 6. Jakes’ work focuses on supporting organizations with their change efforts, using the process of Design Thinking as a tool by which to do this. His role here will be to support the participants of each Advisory in determining their design question, which will guide the work of the group on Thursday, November 7 and at a future meeting, to be determined by the participants of each Advisory. (In short, on the first day, Jakes will lead and help us learn as one big group; on the second day, we’ll work in our specific groups on a topic we’ve come up with together.)

We have a room block at the Radisson Madison for the nights of Tuesday, November 5 and Wednesday, November 7. To reserve a room, access www.radmad.com, select the dates of your stay and enter WISCNE (that’s not a typo — there is no “T'“ at the end), or call the front desk at (608) 833-0100 to book.

For anything not covered here, contact Sarah Miller at sarahmiller@wiscnet.net or (608) 210-3957.
